Spherical Roller Bearing
What are spherical
roller bearings?
Spherical Roller Bearing (SRB) is a bearing element that can
rotate with minimal friction and tolerate angular misalignment that can occur
during operation. These bearings are primarily used in critical applications
where misalignment and high load radial and axial support are required.
Spherical roller
bearing structure:-
Spherical Roller Bearing consists of the following components:
- Ring outer raceway
- 2 raceways in the inner ring
- 2 rows of rollers
- Lock the cage roller in place
Factors Affecting
Bearing Performance.
1) Symmetrical
roller:-
Provides optimal load distribution along the length of the
roll and maintains low stress levels in all load conditions.
2) Roller profile:-
To give the roll profile a uniformly distributed load, the
ideal roll profile should be spherical.
It causes an even distribution of stress across the rollers.
3) Roll tolerance:-
Each roller must be the same size to distribute the optimum
load on the rollers and maximize the life.
4) Cage material:-
The SRB metal cage can withstand high temperatures and all
kinds of lubricants.
SRB operating
temperature limit
1. Ring dimensional
stability:- This type of ring is thermally stabilized and can withstand
high temperatures when subjected to a special type of heat treatment process.
2.Seals:-
Different types of seals can withstand various temperature ranges, such as NBR
(up to 90 ° C), HNBR seals (up to 150 ° C), and FKM seals (up to 200 ° C).
3. Lubricant:-
Proper selection of lubricant is required to optimally operate the bearing within specified
temperature limits.
Material type of
spherical roller bearing:-
The bearing ring and the rolling elements are made of chrome
steel (high carbon chrome). 1.5% chromium content in it.
The bearing cage can be composed of various materials, such
as steel plate, polyamide, brass, steel.
Spherical Roller
Bearing Application:-
If there are applications with heavy loads, moderate speed
and misalignment, SRB will find them. They are used in the following types of
industrial applications:
- Gearbox
- Wind turbine
- Shoe
- Road vehicle
- Octopus and paper
- Mining and construction
- Mechanical fan and blower
